My paps is still hangin in there.....literally....

The most obvious thing would be for me to talk about my dad. I don’t think I am going to do that too much. Well, that is to say, I do not want to talk about his illness too much. I have a super bunch of folks praying for him and my family, and that, in itself, is a wonderful thing. But, for those who don't know, he is going on his fourth week at the hospital and hasn't quite made it back around.

It was just back in June my mom had a heart attack and she was in the hospital for about two weeks. She is doing much better and just moved into a new home that Habitat for Humanity built for her and my younger siblings. Most of you know all that, I just felt like I didn’t give my mom the same “air time” as my dad. I was supposed to be there to help her move and unpack, but then dad had surgery and hasn’t yet come home like we expected.

Anywhooo, I have come down with a cold and can’t go see dad for a bit. Well, I reckon I could, but he already has a bacterial infection and they had to suck a bunch of goo out of his chest, so, I figure me adding more cooties to his already compromised body may not be the best thing right now. I was with him all day Monday (not that I think he knew) and mentally I think that made me feel better!

Speaking of mental. I had gone just shy of 38 years without seeing my dad’s parts and gibblies. I mean really….who should see it? Maybe dads and sons out camping and “watering the trees”, or moms an daughters trying on clothes at the mall. I mean it happens, but that doesn’t mean it should. Dad had a surgery a few years back and I got a glimpse of his backside when he got up, and well….this time…..let’s just say I am extremely lucky I did not go permanently blind. I’m just sayin……
